KWIKSTAT programs (DOS Based) are not certified as Y2K compliant. The WINKS 4.6 program contains no procedures that are affected by the year 2000 (Y2K) problem. Therefore, the WINKS 4.6 program is fully compliant with year 2000 operations. If you are using a KWIKSTAT or WINKS program prior to version 4.6, we recommend that you upgrade to the newer version. Summary of Information
Some computers and software programs contain programming errors which will affect their operation on or after January 1, 2000. This is caused when software programs manipulate date values that produce incorrect results if dates are not based on full four digit year numbers. Errors or incorrect calculations can occur if programs or machines contain procedures or chips that are dependent upon dates to operate.
The WINKS program allows users to store date fields in dBase format files, but does not allow users to perform any mathematical procedures on these dates. Therefore, it is not possible for users to calculate incorrect results based on these date fields. Within WINKS databases, dates are stored only for reference and not for calculation. Furthermore, the WINKS program does not depend on any system date within the computer to operate. There are no procedures within WINKS program that will cause it to cease operation on or after January 1, 2000.
The only problem found related to Y2K in WINKS has been recently resolved. In WINKS programs prior to version 4.6, a problem existed in entering a date 02/29/00. The program would not allow this date to be entered. This problem was resolved in version 4.6.
The WINKS 4.6 program has been tested and will run without any decrease in functionality on and after January 1, 2000.
Should any future versions of WINKS contain date functions that allows date comparison, arithmetic, or manipulation, such procedures will be fully year 2000 compliant.
